Dr. Sherren is a social scientist interested in landscape and natural resource issues, including energy, urban, coastal and agricultural sustainability. In the context of soil science her primary research relates to high-intensity short-duration rotational livestock grazing approaches.

She has done research on the human dimensions of such grazing systems in Australia, Canada and the Falkland Islands.
